Sam Schellink was self-taught and started his career in Utrecht, where he worked until 1892. He left for The Hague and joined the N. V. Haagsche Plateelbakkerij Rozenburg as an apprentice painter that same year. He later became known as a pottery painter of the eggshell porcelain of this company. In order to create new designs, he made many charcoal and pencil drawings, gouaches, pastels and watercolors. Subjects of his work were flower still lifes, landscapes (as a genre) , still lifes, bird scenes. He remained employed by the company until 1914, when it went bankrupt. In 1918 he joined the Tile and Fayence factory Amphora in Oegstgeest, where he worked as a pottery painter. Framed in a handmade gallery frame in good condition, is free with the watercolour. Visible size watercolor is 60X43CM. Work is only sent on request due to fragility. Preferably pick up.
