Pair Monumental Samuel Yellin Style Wrought Iron Andirons, Italian Renaissance, Late 19th early 20th century Palatial in Size are these finely cast pair of Arts and Crafts Gothic andirons attributed to Samuel Yellin with orb finials scrolled weaved brackets and ring decorations. The pair having impressive lion bust bar supports under each basket. The pair found in an old barn in Connecticut badly weather beaten. We have had the pair properly redone in a black finish. In 1909, Yellin opened his own metalsmith shop. In 1915, the firm of Mellor, Meigs & Howe, for whom he designed and created many commissions, designed a new studio for Samuel Yellin Metalworkers at 5520 Arch Street in Philadelphia. Yellin died in 1940, but the firm remained there for decades under the direction of Yellin's son, Harvey. Following Harvey's death, the business moved forward under the ownership and guidance of Samuel Yellin's granddaughter, Clare Yellin.
