With 300 black and white copy photographs, mostly from rare and historical photographs taken during 1846 to 1906, a few are from engravings, paintings and prints; plus 3 original photographs, including one panoramic view (in 4 parts measuring 9"x26½") showing the rebuilding of San Francisco in October 1907, at the end. (Oblong 4to) 35x29.5 cm (11x13¾"), album bound in soft padded leather, lettered in gilt.

Fascinating images from San Francisco's past, including views of old pioneers, panoramic views from old paintings and prints, several of downtown, Portsmouth Square (with the Old City Hall and Bella Union Theatre captioned and present), St. Patrick's Church, the old and later City Halls, Monumental Engine House, Fort Vigilance, South Park, Mission Dolores in 1856, several of the old Woodward Gardens, a Pro-Union Civil War rally from 1861 at Market and Post, Russian Hill, Telegraph Hill, Meigg's Wharf, Star King Church, Old St. Mary's Church, Grace Church, National Guards Armory in 1865, Goat Island and U.S. Marine Hospital (now Yerba Buena Island), Rincon Hill, Broadway Wharf, various cemeteries, the first and second Cliff Houses, Masonic Temple, double view of Emperor Norton, Warners Cobweb Palace, first cable line on Clay St. from 1873, several from the Mission District, harbor views, Hopkins' and Senator Stanford's Residences in Nob Hill from 1880, the old Ferry Building, Union Square, the Chronicle Building from 1890, and much more. Photographs mostly measure 4"x5" or a bit larger, and are either captioned in the negative or lettered in ink (many with specific locations identified).
Condition Report: Rebacked, leather rubbed and worn, pages slightly wavy, two photographs laid in; overall very good.
