Sandro Chia is an Italien painter and sculptor. He studied at Accademia di Belle Arte in Florence. Chia was a leading figure in Italien figurative painting. He employs vibrant, colored, swirling brushstrokes reminiscent of the dynamic Italian futurists. At the same time, his work shows a kinship with the enigmatic allegories of the 17th century. Chia borrows loosely from art historical figures. While he may he borrow from classical iconography, he interoperates and manipulates it in his own way. Read more
