The Santa Barbara Bicentennial Historical Series - To commemorate the Bicentennial of the Independence of the United States and in tribute to Thomas More Storke (1876-1971), pioneer California newspaper editor and publisher, six Santa Barbara institutions have cooperated in the preparation of a book reflecting its own focus of interest. Limited to 500 copies each, the six-volume series, each book measuring 7" x 10", beautifully designed and printed, are bound in colorful linen boards and contain appropriate endpapers and illustrations. The first book will be released in November of 1976. Participating in the production are: Santa Barbara Mission Archive Library, Santa Barbara Historical Society, Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, Santa Barbara Trust for Historical Preservation, and Friends of the Library, University of California, Santa Barbara. Editor of the Series is Doyce B. Nunis, Jr., professor of History, University of Southern California, and editor of the Southern California Quarterly.
