Sapphire and diamond ring, 1930s
Claw-set with a cushion-shaped sapphire weighing approximately 6.96 carats, within a surround of circular-cut diamonds, size R, original case.
Accompanied by a gemmological report, an insurance valuation and the original receipt from Ceylon, dated 1931.
Condition Report:
Accompanied by Gem and Pearl lab report no. 17323, dated 24th May 2019, stating that the sapphire measuring 11.5 x 9.4 x 6.9mm is of Sri Lankan origin, no evidence of heat treatment; and the original receipt from O.L.M Macan Markar, Colombo, Ceylon - dated 14th January 1931; as well as an insurance valuation dated 2018 for £35,360.
Unsigned, however insurance valuation assesses the mount as platinum and total diamond weight stated to be 0.76 carats, approximately G-H colour, VS2-SI1 clarity. Sapphire stated to weigh 6.96 carats, some very minor surface reaching inclusions visible upon close inspection, shallow chip under one claw and small nick to girdle but overall condition good. Gross weight approximately 4.60 grams.
