Sassanian Glass Cup w/ Faceted Surface

Ancient Near East, Sassanian (Sasanian, Sassanid) Empire, ca. 3rd to 6th century CE. A beautiful cup formed from translucent glass of a deep forest-green hue. The vessel is defined by a small base, a hemispherical body, a deep basin, and a thick rim. The exterior of the body is adorned with dozens of deep-cut facets that imbue the vessel with an elegant presentation evocative of the ancient Near East. Size: 4" W x 3" H (10.2 cm x 7.6 cm).
Provenance: The Dere Family Collection, New York, USA, assembled 1970s-2000s; ex-Stephen Shalom Collection, New York, USA, acquired in 1980s
