Sbarro - ACA Spider - 1966

[ translate ]

Sports car prototype with German road approval, valid German MOT and classic car registration. Chassis: NSU TT 1966 with subframe - body: glass fibre reinforced plastic - engine: 4-cylinder NSU TT from "SPIESS" - performance: 103 hp - weight: 400 kilograms. Franco SBARRO, the car designer and constructor from Switzerland, built this vehicle in Grandson (Canton of Neuchâtel) as a racing car for young drivers. As base he used a NSU TT chassis from 1966 and installed a SPIESS engine with 997 ccm. SPIESS was considered the best tuner for NSU engines. The prototype, which weighed only 400 kg, was used only once on the Lignières circuit. Subsequently, the racing vehicle was in the museum of Franco Sbarro in Grandson and Pontarlier in France for more than 30 years. In May 2006 the vehicle was purchased, restored and prepared for historical events. Before Franco Sbarro became a renowned designer, he was chief mechanic at the beginning of the 60s at the then world-famous racing team "Scuderia Filipinetti". In 1966 Sbarro founded the company ACA. In the magazine "Auto Exclusiv" from November 1983 you can read that the Sbarro ACA Spider was the first construction FS realized as an independent designer. The Spider remained a unique piece due to its too high price for young racers. In 2006 the vehicle was revised, completed and refined by Ernst Sigg in order to obtain road approval for Switzerland. In September 2011 the Spider changed hands: It was reinforced and repainted. The engine had to be completely renewed. In order to obtain a road approval in Germany, modifications to the chassis, carburet-or and above all exhaust system were necessary. The current vehicle weight is 500 kg. A stable 1300 ccm engine with approx. 100 HP was installed. The Spider has a short transmission. The vehicle is in accident-free condition. Since the restoration approx. 10,000 km have been covered without technical problems in the context of some trips (no racing events) . The Sbarro ACA Spider is a UNIQUE car with German road approval and valid German MOT and classic car registration. Technique and spare parts are no problem - everything is available, since all are large series parts. Sales on customer order. The vehicle can be delivered on request (against separate invoice) . The Spider is comparable with the Abarth 1000 SP, the price for the Abarth is about 90. 000€. The Spider can be seen and picked up in Kissing near Augsburg (Germany) by prior arrangement. In order to avoid later disappointment, it is recommended that you view the vehicle before placing a bid. Please contact Catawiki to arrange an appointment.
