Scan-Globe style Illuminated Table Globe Lamp
An illuminated table globe lamp featuring a Scan-Globe style cartography, likely manufactured in Denmark or the United Kingdom. The lamp comprises a two-part plastic globe mounted upon a moulded brown plastic circular base with a dark metallic finish meridian arm. The map is presented in a sepia-toned antiquarian style, incorporating decorative illustrations of sailing ships, sea monsters, and a whale tail in the North Pacific Ocean. While the aesthetic is historical, the cartography includes modern political entities such as South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The globe is fitted with a black power cable featuring an integrated inline rocker switch and a standard UK three-pin plug. No manufacturer's label or specific maker's mark is legible on the base or the map surface.
More Information
The globe shows a significant horizontal misalignment and gap at the equator seam where the two hemispheres join (photo 1 and photo 5). There are several visible scuffs and scratches to the plastic surface, particularly noted in the North Atlantic and South Atlantic Ocean areas (photo 2 and photo 4). The metallic meridian arm exhibits surface wear and signs of oxidation (photo 4). The brown plastic base has minor surface scratches consistent with use (photo 1). The electrical components appear intact, though as a second-hand electrical item, it requires PAT testing by a qualified professional before use.
