Scarce "The Educated Rod"
Patented on Feb. 12th, 1946, this invention of R.T. Makie from Thompkins County, NY was touted as a compact outfit that wouldn't "become entangled in the woods" and one that could be easily "tossed into a car without dismantling". The wooden grasp attaches to a 2pc rod that uses a coiled spring to cradle the "tip" section, that would simulate a rod tip bending to the fish. Equipped with a 4 1/2" diameter trolling reel with copper line, the decaled combo is in VG overall condition, with complete decal from the maker. One of the more unusual rod and reel combos to come to auction in some time.
