Scarce Veeder Mfg. Co. Trolling Reel
A photo of this particular reel appears on page 178 of Antique Fishing Reels - 2nd Edition by Steve Vernon, where it was best described as a narrow spooled trolling reel mounted on a rod butt. The 6" diameter reel incorporates a line counter, the subject of Veeder's patent #548482 of 10/22/1895 on this single action reel with a drag adjustment nut on the tail plate side, with a small "chuck" that would allow the angler to attach his or her own rod. Coming with the original bag, in Ex overall condition, still spooled with wire line.
