Scholten & Baijings - Thomas Eyck - Basket (1) - t.e. 047, serious business 3

[ translate ]

Scholten & Baijings woven willow t. e. The serious business 3 is based on the contemporary handwriting of Scholten & Baijings, in perfect harmony with a traditional Dutch 17th-century weaving technique. In this technique, the willow braiding is split and planed in very small pieces and used almost as a textile. Their fresh and innovative approach to this very old technique has resulted in this basket. Both the wickerwork and the grid of the woven willow inspired Stefan Scholten and Carole Baijings to combine different materials in their designs. Plastic with willow wood has been nominated for this basket. Designed in 2009, the bowl is now a classic. The bowl has just returned from an exhibition in New York, so we can't sell it like new. Included in the collection of, among others, Zuiderzee Museum.
