Scholten & Baijings - Thomas Eyck - Vase - Carafe - Grand Bernard, pink
For this vase/carafe, Stefan Scholten & Carole Baijings first had a mould made around which they braided the willow twigs. They subsequently created a mould of this shape to have the renowned glass artist Bernard Heesen blow the glass into it and attach the handle onto it. The weave structure then remains as a beautiful impression. Stefan Scholten and Carole Baijings have been collaborating since 2000. Scholten studied at the Design Academy Eindhoven, Baijings is an autodidact. After the realisation of various projects in which they touched upon the borders between autonomous and applied works, their new works put more emphasis on design within the interior. The 'Grand Bernard' is adopted in the permanent collection of the Zuiderzeemuseum Enkhuizen en the Museum of Modern Art Chicago, among others.
