The page consists of two distinct parts. The first part concludes the story. Spirou, Seccotine, and Fantasio are finally reunited and free. Note the inventive alternation of framing within the car. All’s well that ends well. The reader can finally breathe a sigh of relief… But the rain falling in panel 5 foreshadows a danger that becomes apparent in the final panel. Surrounded by aggressive moray eels, Zorglub—with his cynical Mona Lisa-like gaze—seems to be waking up at the bottom of the water, while the wreck of the Discret reappears, like an omen foreshadowing new misadventures.
“In the word ‘fin,’ the falling ‘N’ is actually the ‘Z’ in Zorglub. I had initially considered drawing Spip holding it back, but I abandoned the idea.” O.S.
