Sculpture - Gilt bronze - Avalokiteshvara the bodhisattva of compassion - Sino-Tibetan - 18th century

Description Sino-Tibetan. Gilt and finely incised bronze with Avalokiteshvara, the bodhisattva of compassion in its Ekadashamukha form with eleven faces and eight arms. Ekadashamukha is standing in Samapada with his principle hands in Anjali mudra, the side hands holding a lotus blossom and a conch among other attributes. The deity is dressed in a richly decorated gown with precious jewelry, wears pointed crowns and is framed by celestial bands. At the upper left shoulder is a deer fur. The first nine faces are peaceful, the tenth is wrathful and the top head shows the portrayal of Buddha Amitabha. Datation Early 18th century / C. 1725 Weigth 238,6 grams Condition Good condition with old wear, minor scratches and natural patina. Some minor traces of use and a few minuscule nicks here and there. The sealing plate replaced with red tissue. . Please check pictures for global condition Provenance A private collection in Prague, Czechia.
