A rare and archaic "memento mori" in the shape of a wrought iron human skeleton, representing mortality, probably once part of a tomb, crypt or possibly a bell tower, dating from the 17th century (perhaps older) . According to previous owners, it originates from the Auvergne region. Provenance: bought from an antique dealer in this region in the 1960's. On a custom-made metal stand.
