Sculpture, Masterpiece 4 Forgers - Iron (wrought) - 19th century

Sculptural masterpiece made entirely of forged, carved and chiselled iron. Unique specimen in the world. The sculpture consists of an architectural composition in hand-forged iron, mechanically assembled with screws and joints, no welding, all done by hand. The piece consists of a structure of columns and decorated plates creating a sort of small gazebo masterfully enriched with four shields and the representation of four characters, identifiable as mastersmiths. This striking piece can be attributed to the French area, as can be inferred from an inscription on one of the four shields reading the word 'science'. In another shield, the word 'art' can be guessed and read. One could probably relate this to a rather important event, such as a universal exhibition or to celebrate nations in the arts. It should be noted that for the The Exposition Universelle of 1889 in Paris, pavilions and stands were set up in the shape of this forged iron workpiece.
