A very beautiful ornate carved marble facade ornament, representing the winged portrait of Catherine de Medici, queen of France from 1547 to 1559, who is depicted here as an angel. Her forehead is decorated with a bejeweled pendant. At the back, the hole that would have held a square shaped iron fixing pin is still visible. France. Renaissance period. Mid-16th century. Important note: the twin of this piece was sold by us to the Renaissance château de Chenonceau (Loire valley) and resides since 2018 and their collection. Dimensions: H 16. 5cm ; W 15. 5cm ; D 5. 5cm Condition: some minor damages as can be seen on the pictures - perspex stand is not included -
