Saint - wooden sculpture. Southern Italy, first half of the 17th century. Carved lime wood, gilded and decorated in ‘Estofado de Oro’ style. Wooden sculpture of a Saint, probably Paul, according to the only visible iconographic element. The gilt is exceptionally bright and not very worn, considering the age of the item together with the excellent brilliance of the colours. The quality of the sculpture and the paintings is especially clear in the details of the garment decoration. Where present, the exposed bole clay is in any case pleasant and does not disrupt the overall perception of the work, which is why it was decided not to intervene with arbitrary pictorial additions. The sculpture is set on a contemporary octagonal wooden base, which has undergone minimal restoration, cleaning, disinfestation and consolidation. It will be shipped with professional custom packaging, inside plywood lined with polystyrene and shockproof corners. The shipping will also be provided with tracking and insurance.
