Sculpture, Vanitas - Memento mori - Bone - 19th century
A bone sculpture, approximately 13 cm high, 19th century. The plinth is a recent addition and is specially made for a better fruition of the work. The represented subject is a "Vanitas". The name "Vanitas" comes from the biblical phrase "Vanitas vanitatum et omnia vanitas", and, just like the "Memento Mori", it is a warning to the ephemeral condition of existence.
