Ancient wooden Gothic statue of the Madonna and Child. Hand carved from a block of wood. Originated in Europe (Germany or Italy) most likely in the 19th century. Decay on the back of the statue (stable) . Its base is a red velvet stand, also worn away by the years. Much gilt and paints remaining. Beautiful time honed patina. Loss and wear commensurate with great age including loss and wear to gilt and paints. Minor chips to base. Please READ below before bidding.
