Our "Mut-Nyabeidilwa" figure, with blunt arms, was part of a "Mutulwa" basket in which she was kept by the members of the "Bwami" society. During the "Kunanuna - Masengo" rite she was refreshed with fresh, white kaolin paint, laid out in a row and interpreted. Ex. Private collection, Brussels/Belgium (purchased in Brussels trade) Soft wood type. Brown to black and brown oil patina. Signs of white - kaolin - powder over the whole. A lot of wear from rubbing. Three traces of knife insertion at the top of the back (to activate the statue!) Torn wood particles on the back of the head. Dry bottom. Track & trace shipment.
