A Senufo maternity sculpture, Ivory Coast, Korhogo, standing on a cylindrical base, short, bent legs, a prominent buttock decorated with several rings, a slender long torso with a pointed navel and prominent scarification marks, solid, large conical breasts, elongated arms angled, holding a child in front of the abdomen, rings on each wrist, on lower and upper arms, rounded shoulders, a long neck with rings, an ovoid elongated head with a heart-shaped face, a protruding mouth with rows of teeth beneath a long nose framed by bulging slit eyes, further scarification marks on the face, disc-shaped ears, a comb-like coiffure; brownish to reddish patina, traces of age, ritual use and cracks.
