Sculpture - Wood - Senufo - Ivory Coast
A female Senufo sculpture, Ivory Coast, Korhogo, standing on a cylindrical base, short legs, elongated bent arms carved beside a slender torso, which is in shape of three tapering conicals, hanging, tapering breasts, squared shoulders, a long trapezoid neck supporting an ovoid head with a heart-shaped face, a protruding mouth with rows of teeth beneath a long nose framed by heavy-lidded eyes under prominent eyebrows, semi-circular ears, a comb-like coiffure with upward turned braid at the forehead, both upper arms with bangles, scarification marks all over the sculpture; brownish to reddish patina, partly shiny, traces of age and ritual use.
