Our " Pfemba " maternity figure played an important role during the female fertility cult. The mitre shaped hairstyle was a widely worn fashion for both women and men. On the upper arms the woman/mother wears the protective " Nsunga " straps. Ex. Galerie Le Page , rue de la Regence , Brussels ( ca. 1973) Ex. Privé coll. Brussels (since ca. 1973) Hard wood type Shiny, slightly sweaty, black- brown oil patina. Old age related cracks here and there. Rubbing traces over the whole. Dust deposit to the base. Some insect holes. Inlaid glass eyes. Three little yellow brass nails in the mitre hairstyle. Chipped wood (left chest & top of the mitre) . Patinated, dry bottom. Sober, serene maternity figurine. Will be sent with track & trace.
