Sculptures (2) - Gilt, Lacquer, Wood - Foo dogs - Pair Foo Dogs - China - 19th century

Up for auction here are a pair of antique gilt and lacquer Chinese Foo Dogs. Wear and loss commensurate with great age. Left Foo Dog features an age crack to front and base. Ancient repair to left back of base as seen in photos. The righ Foo Dog also features a crack to base as seen in photos. The Foo Dogs appear at one time to have been candle holders as evidenced by the hole in the top back of the Dog which presumably held a candle apparatus at one time and now lost to time. Left Foo Dog features a cute baby Foo Dog whilst right Foo Dog is noted standing on a ball.
