Scuola Fiamminga (XVII) - Crocifissione di Cristo

[ translate ]

Ancient painting, oil on wooden panel, dating back to the 17th century, depicting the Crucifixion of Christ.
\r
This suggestive table, of which passages and passages of excellent quality are highlighted, appears to be attributable to an artist of the Flemish school active during the 17th century, with stylistic and iconographic results that appear to be derived from the ways of Frans Francken II (Antwerp 1581/1642) . Our table, of excellent quality, depicts Christ in the center wrapped in a white cloth. Magdalene at the foot of the cross has a sumptuous yellow brocade dress. Saint John on the right is obviously suffering, as expressed by the tear that wets his cheek. Mary is pale, in mourning, her hands humbly crucified and folded in pain. The type of composition appears as a typical product of the Counter-Reformation, which invites the Catholic faithful to experience the same emotions as the figures depicted.
\r
In good general condition considering the age of the painting, small scattered restoration points can be seen as well as some light unraveling of the pictorial surface. There are no conservation problems highlighted. The original table has no noteworthy structural defects, only a slight curvature along the right side of the table is noted. On the back of the table there is a wax seal that we have not been able to identify. A fine crackle is visible in relation to the era.
\r
Framed in a beautiful recent frame, which has slight defects and restorations.
\r
Measurements of the painting: 56 x 42 cm. Frame measurements: 65 x 51 cm.
\r
Work accompanied by a certificate of photographic authenticity, as per current legislation.
\r
Shipping via insured express courier and packaging carried out with the utmost care.
