Antique painting, oil on paper applied on panel, datable between the late XVIII and the early XIX century, depicting a coastal landscape with fishermen. This refined and evocative work, whose pictorial surface is very accurate and with passages of excellent quality, in which the artist gives proof of excellent talent, appears undoubtedly inspired by the works of Claude-Joseph Vernet, known for being one of the most important landscape painters of the European scene of the eighteenth century and specialist in depicting seashores. In fairly good overall condition considering the age of the painting, some scattered restorations and some slight peeling of the painted surface. There are no conservation issues. The work is painted on paper and applied on a wooden table, which would seem to be from the same era and probably coeval to the painting. Fine craquelure consistent with the painting’s age.
