Scuola Italiana del XVIII Secolo - Madonna in estasi

[ translate ]

\Artist: Scuola Italiana del XVIII Secolo
Technique: Oil on canvas\Signature: Not signed\Dimensions: 36_26_5_cm
Antique painting, oil on canvas, XVIII century, depicting the Holy Virgin in ecstasy. This refined canvas has peculiar similarities with the production of Giuseppe Bazzani (1690 - 1769) . The nuanced drafting and the pictorial style, in fact, recall those of the Mantuan artist, a one of a kind exponent of the Rococo taste who revisited the best examples of the Baroque age. It is therefore plausible an attribution to Bazzani himself or to some author close to him. To the style of this artist belongs not only the iconographic style, but also the pictorial arrangement, in which we perceive the typical taste of the artist. The analysis of the craquelure would indicate a coeval dating. In overall fairly good condition, considering its age. There are old scattered restorations and a little peeling of the surface. There are no conservation issues and the original canvas is supported by an old re-lining that does not seem to require restoration. Fine craquelure consistent with the painting’s age. It looks like the stretcher was replaced, probably when the artwork was relined. With a beautiful frame, from a more recent period, which has some flaws and defects. Canvas size: 26. 5 x 16. 5 cm. Frame size: 36 x 26 cm. With photographic certificate of authenticity, in accordance with the current law. Shipping via insured express courier, packaged with the utmost care.
