Scuola Napoletana del 18° Secolo - Seguace di Antonio Joli - Fantasia architettonica con festa danzante

[ translate ]

Beautiful antique painting, oil on canvas, from the 18th century, depicting an architectural fantasy with a dancing party. A painting of excellent quality, where drawing and painting know-how lead to results worthy of the best scenographic tradition, with a classical and theatrical architectural construction that without neglecting the taste for detail and narrative aspects, exhibits Neapolitan style characters and close affinities with the architectural fantasies made by Antonio Joli (1700-1777) during his stay in Naples, where in 1756 he began an intense activity in the service of the Bourbon court and where in 1762 was appointed head designer and architect of the Teatro San Carlo in replacement of Vincenzo Re . The stylistic references of this work are in harmony with the biography and artistic personality of Antonio Joli, a specialist painter of views, capricci, ruins and theatrical sets. Painted probably by a close follower or by a collaborator of Joli, among which mention Pietro Fabris (1740-1792) is worth mentioning, with whom a close collaboration is widely documented, established from the first moment of their activity in Naples. With beautiful antique gilded frame, which has some small flaws and defects. In good general condition, considering the age of the painting, there are some old scattered restorations and some light unveiling of the surface, but nothing really significant. interventions. There are no problems of a conservative nature and the original canvas has an old re-lining that does not need any intervention. The frame seems to have been replaced, probably at the time of the re-lining. Canvas size 114x68. 5 cm. Frame size 125. 5x80 cm. Shipping via insured express courier and packaged with the utmost care.
