Ancient oil painting on canvas of the seventeenth century Italian 64 x 52 cm, Genoese school, depicting Seneca dying. The philosopher was unjustly accused by the emperor himself of being involved in Pisone's conspiracy and sentenced to suicide. Seneca is depicted in the last moments of his life, waiting for death surrounded by friends. On the right we see the figure of the physician Stazio Anneo, in the act of bleeding the philosopher. The painting has an old paint and needs a slight pictorial cleaning. Provenance: private collection.
