The painting was bought in Italy on the antiques market a few years ago. It had already been covered up for some time. The wood lamp has no retouching except a small one on the sky. It is a recently cleaned oil painting by a professional restorer and is in excellent condition with no need for any restoration. It has no frame. At the moment no expertise has been drawn up attributing the work but the seller has indicated the author in the context of the 17th century Marche school. It does not appear that the painting was previously public or that it participated in other auctions. It represents Zacharias indicating the name to the angel who has announced that he will have a child even though his wife is sterile. John his son will be the Baptist. The painting will be shipped by courier carefully packaged
