Oil painting on canvas 50x40 cm depicting the Virgin with Child, in a composition of admirable decoration, in the taste of Carlo Maratta, great creator of these subjects, which have risen to models of reference and inspiration, thanks to a widespread market that has seen the production of works, between workshop and followers, which sometimes make it difficult to distinguish between original and copy. The painting is in good condition, from the period prudentially referring to the end of the 18th century, although it is possible to recognize a more mature date in the cretto; it is on the second canvas, on a loom that appears to have been replaced at the moment of relining; it does not present problems of a conservative nature, a slight recent scratch outside the central composition area. Inserted within a beautiful gilded frame with relief decorations in pastille, from the period between the end of the nineteenth and the beginning of the twentieth century, cm. 71x62x7 (small lacks) .
