Scuola napoletana (XVII) - Maddalena

[ translate ]

Ancient painting, oil on canvas, from the 17th century, depicting Maddalena.

This evocative painting, which presents Neapolitan style features, appears to be attributable to a highly talented artist working in Naples during the 17th century. We note similarities with the production of Andrea Vaccaro (Naples 1605 - 1670) , an author who several times approached the subject of Mary Magdalene in a similar manner. Work probably attributable to a pupil or close follower of Vaccaro.

Framed in a beautiful recent frame, which has slight defects.

In fairly good general condition considering the age of the painting, there are some scattered restoration points as well as some unraveling and cracking of the pictorial surface. There are no conservation problems highlighted and the original canvas, which does not appear to be relined, does not appear to require intervention. The frame, which appears quite fragile, appears to be contemporary with the canvas, which appears to have been applied frontally to the same with some visible nails. A fine crackle is visible in relation to the era.

The dimensions of the canvas are 90. 5 x 69 cm. The dimensions of the frame are 104 x 82. 5 cm.

Work accompanied by a certificate of photographic authenticity, as per current legislation.

Shipping via insured express courier and packaging carried out with the utmost care.
