A small but significant painting, mis. 38x28 cm, of a landscape of Devonshire, (today Devon) a territory rich in mineral deposits as well as agriculture and fishing. The places have always been painted by the great English landscape painters between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, including James Leakey, followed by pupils and supporters and constituted real landscape schools that contributed to the great tradition of the English landscape. The painting is framed by a period frame, and with an ancient relining.
