The Boys’ Departmental School in Wieliczka is a historic educational institution from the period of the Austrian partition, the direct successor of which is today’s Nicolaus Copernicus Elementary School No. 3 in Wieliczka.
The Boys’ Departmental School traces its origins to a former four-grade municipal school known as the Main School. After Galicia gained autonomy and the education system was polonized, the institution was transformed into a seven-grade Boys’ Departmental School in the 1872–1873 school year. The term “eight-grade” is associated with later reforms of the Austrian education system. (Wikipedia)
