Second Year Production Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle in 38-55 Caliber
Made by Winchester Repeating Arms according to serial number in 1895. Gun has 26" blued Winchester marked round barrel with sheared blade front sight and plugged rear sight boss with Lyman Tang peep sight and standard address with "38-55" caliber marking. Barrel has standard 6 groove rifling. Correct blued solid frame receiver with blued full tubular magazine. Correct serrated casehardened hammer and lever and smooth plain trigger and fire blued loading gate. Walnut plain standard stock with casehardened crescent steel buttplate, blued Nose cap and No sling swivels. Appears to be an all correct gun of collection quality. LOP: 13-1/4". CALIBER/GA: 38-55. 90%+ barrel blue with mark from elevator for rear sight with receiver showing strong original blue with fire blue remaining on loading gate. Traces of case hardening with some oxidation. Wood has large portion of original varnish with some usage dings and marks. Bright bore with excellent mechanics.
