Seljuk bronze applique in lion form

A nice Seljuk bronze applique in the form of the forepart of a lion, 11th - 12th Century AD, with open mouth and ears back, the mane along the top of the head and eyes nicely incised. The back originally had an oval hole, and this was perhaps on of four legs for a box or vessel or something similar in nature. H: 2 in (5 cm). Nicely patinated and mounted on a lucite base.
