1906 - 1969
Rouge et Noir

signé
huile sur toile
80,6 x 99,7 cm ; 31¾ x 39¼ in.
Exécuté en 1960.

Condition Report:
The work was inspected in its frame. There is usual wear to the outer edges. There are traces of the previous framing along all four edges. There are tonal and textural variations, including areas of thickly applied paint, inherent to the artist’s chosen media and working method. There are a few scattered losses to the pigment and unobtrusive surface scratches throughout, most notably in the upper left and lower right corners. Under ultraviolet light, in the lower right corner there are some areas that fluoresce. This work is in overall good condition.

Provenance:

Marcel and Liliane Pollak Collection, Paris

Sotheby's, London, Impressionist, Modern and Contemporary Art, 15 March 1995, lot 418
