Sericho Meteorite End Cut Pallasite Eastern, Kenya - (1° 5' 41"N, 39° 6' 8"E) Found: 2016 An incomparable piece of the Sericho Meteorite that was found in Kenya in 2016, this colossal end cut weighs an astounding 9 kilograms (20 pounds). The expansive display face is covered with gold Olivine crystals, giving the piece an impactful and dramatic appearance. Large size defines the end cut, but the quality of such material, and it representing the rare pallasite variety, makes the giant rock of asteroid origin as collectible as it is dramatic. Unlike most pallasites which have a relatively even split between metal and crystal, Sericho boasts a high concentration of Olivine crystals in the 70 to 80 percent range. The shape is captivating with sharp edges. Only a few minor pockets without crystallization are visible over the massive surface area, and only minimal contact damage on the periphery is even noticeable. The rugged terrain of the exterior is extremely mountainous, with a mix of brownish and orangey hue. One deep gash is visible near the skewed side of this rocky mass, likely due to an exploratory saw cut. Measurements: 12.99 x 8.31 x 4.33 inches (33.00 x 21.10 x 11.00 cm), weighs 9 kilograms (19.9 pounds) HID09710052018 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
