An attractive copy of the first editions of the sermons of Jacob de Clusa, in contemporary Tübingen binding. The author, also known as Jacob of Juterbogk, was a Cistercian monk in Poland before studying at the University of Kraków and becoming a lecturer in Erfurt. HC 9333* and 9329*; BMC II 482 and 483; BSB-Ink I-47 and I-45; Bod-inc J-011; Goff J-35 and J-38; ISTC ij00035000 and ij00038000.

Chancery folio (292 x 204mm). First work: 200 leaves; second work: 252 leaves (of 254, bifolium l1-8 replaced with contemporary manuscript copy of missing text). Initials, paragraph marks, chapter headings, and capital strokes in red (some dampstaining and other staining, in one case causing damage to the text, some pages toned, closed tear affecting text in manuscript leaf). Contemporary Tübingen blindstamped pigskin over wooden boards [EBDB w002412, Adler mit Nimbus], saffron edges, catchplates renewed, remains of paper label on upper board (lacking straps, some worming, restored). Provenance: acquired from Lathrop C. Harper, Inc, New York, 20 April 1956.
