Saxony, 1st third of the 17th Century
Serpentine, gilt silver mounted foot and cover. Tapering cylindrical form, silver handle modelled as a female caryatid with scrolled thumbpiece, domed lid with turned finial. Silver waist band with hunting frieze. The lid decorated in relief: cartouches with hunting scenes and mascarons. Inner side of the lid engraved with a coat of arms. Damaged. Height 17.5 cm.
