Description: Sèvres Bisque 'Danseuse au Cothurne'
After a model by Agathon Leonard (French 1841 - 1923)
From the Scarf Dance Series for the Paris World Fair 1900. Sitter depicted in motion leaning left in contrapposto, pulling the heel of the left sandal with the left index and middle fingers, in a back-flowing gown. Impressed ED with SEVRES within rectangle and 03 near lower drape fold of reverse. Underside with engraved edition N° 5. Minor wear and abrasion with associated dark contact staining in isolated areas, particularly near outer extremities of left sleeve and recessed surfaces of calf; accumulated dirt, dust, debris, and residue scattered throughout, particularly concentrated in the recesses.
