Table set “FRANCAIS ILLUSTRES” of king Louis Philippe for the Château de Saint-Cloud. Dinner plate, decorated with a cameo of “G. Thomas Raynal” in the centre surrounded by gold leaves and with a decoration of golden leaves on a blue agate background. Sèvres royal manufacture, blue 33 stamp, on the back: “Raynal (Guillaume Thomas Francois) historien, ne a St. Genies en Rouergue 1713”. Diameter: 24 cm Stamp Château de St. Cloud History: The “Francesi Illustri” set was decorated with portraits of famous men in the cameo style, used as a table set in the castles of Saint-Cloud and Compiègne from 1832 to 1847. The plate has the same design as the ‘Agata Blu’ plate, offered in a different lot.
