Seymour Lash Handcrafted "HMS Pandora" Model Ship
Seymour Lash (American, 1925-2011). A handcrafted model ship "HMS Pandora", with three masts, ten carronade and a British flag hanging on the stern. Apparently unmarked. Approx: (case) h. 26.5", w. 13", d. 34". Note: HMS Pandora was a 24-gunPorcupine-class sixth-rate post ship of the Royal Navy launched in May 1779. She is best known as the ship sent in 1790 to search for the Bounty mutineers. The Pandora was partially successful by capturing 14 of the mutineers, but was wrecked on the Great Barrier Reef on the return voyage in 1791. Approx. h. 26.5", w. 35.5", d. 14.5".
