Shadi Ghadirian (Iranian, b. 1974), Ctrl+Alt+Del, 2006, 5 digital prints, from an edition of 10, each 40 x 60cm (5) Ghadirian is an Iranian photographer who has found international acclaim through her various series addressing contemporary themes from war to women and the everyday. Ghadirian’s work challenges Western assumptions concerning Iranian women and their roles in an Islamic state. She explores the complexities and juxtapositions that surround the abrasion lines between Iran’s old and new. Pertinent subjects such as the intersection of modernity and ancient custom, and the imposition of warfare on daily life are addressed reverently and with great humour. Ghadirian's works are held in collections around the world including the British Museum, London, England; Centre Pompidou, Paris, France; MUMOK - Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien, Austria; Musée des Arts Contemporains Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, France; Collection Marin Karmitz; Collection Lambert; Collection Rose Issa; Collection Saeb Eigner; Collection Driss Ben Brahim; Collection Sheikh Majid Al Sabah; Collection Isabelle Munoz;
