Shahsavan Khorjin
late 19th century, 114 x 43 cm, North West Persia, Azerbaijan
A kilim double bag, completely preserved with the closure tabs and backs. The bag is stunningly minimalist in design. An empty dark blue rectangle with serrated lateral outlines floats freely on the white field ground. It was probably woven by a Shahsavan tribal group in the Hashtrud region.
RIPPON BOSWELL, A 50, 21 November 1998, lot 1
