A small rectangular lithographed tin motor spirit can with red ground, decorated with Shell Motor Spirit lettering in gold serif characters within a raised border panel. The sides feature vertical Shell lettering, and the top section displays an embossed shell pecten device beneath an applied strap handle, fitted with a threaded metal screw cap.
Condition Report:
Paint loss, scratching, and surface oxidisation across all panels, with notable paint flaking to the red field and wear to the gold lettering (photos 1 and 2). Wear, scratching, and tarnishing to the top surface and threaded screw cap (photo 3). Minor scattered surface indentations to the body consistent with age and handling.
