Side table - Soapstone, Wood - China - Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) (No Reserve Price)
Antique hand-carved Chinese hardwood side table. The legs have the so-called ball and claw feet, which is so typical for these tables. Almost all historical sources believe that the Ball & Claw design is derived from the Chinese: a dragon claw holding a crystal ball, or a pearl. In Chinese mythology, the dragon (emperor) would protect the symbol (ball – for wisdom or purity) (with the triple clawed foot) against evil forces that tried to steal it. The soapstone top has superficial scratches. The wood top is a bit lighter in color. See all photos which are part of the description!
Height 45 cm
L x W 40 x 40 cm
Weight 10. 8 kg
The table will be carefully packaged and shipped insured with track and trace!
