Luxurious edition for bibliophiles, printed in small numbers, illustrated with 41 original etchings by the painter and engraver Léopold-Lévy (1882-1966) , including a frontispiece, 10 inset and 30 inline.

Edition strictly limited to 119 copies on Rives vellum (including 20 numbered in Roman numerals) . No. 70, signed in pencil by the artist in the receipt.

In sheets, in printed cover, folder and slipcase.

Copy in very good condition, minor defects: slight rubbing and dirt on the back of the folder and on the case. Fresh and clean interior, foxing on the guards (not serious) .

De rerum natura, Lucretius' great poem, presents itself as an attempt to “break the strong bolts of the doors of nature”, that is to say, to reveal to the reader the nature of the world and natural phenomena.
